Guest guest
I'm going to be having upper, lower, and genio for an open bite sometime in either December or January (or so they tell me). I have tons of questions regarding the surgery and I'm feeling extremely afraid. Apparently my oral surgeon will be performing his first surgery on me with the assistance of a more experienced surgeon. They called and told my mom that as a sidenote months ago. Thankfully I've done a little research and found out that an os should have done hundreds, so I know to find another. I'm worried that this late in the process, my insurance company may not cover the switch over to another surgeon, or consultations. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how soon before surgery did you have a consultation with the os, because here it is October, surgery is most likely in two months and they still haven't taken measurements or explained the process to me. The bulk of what I know I picked up on this site. When we asked for references they gave us two names, which seems on the low side. At my orthodontist, one of the assistants, who was working on my teeth thought that I had already had surgery (At this practice the orthodontists don't make the actual adjustments). My point is that she was being pretty rough on my mouth considering the fact that she thought I was postop. It seems like there's not a lot of communication going on. I asked my doctor if she could help find me the names of some good surgeons and she said it would be no problem. That was probably six months ago, and I've been calling her office frequently and getting no response, they don't know " what it's regarding. " I'm really worried, beyond worried actually. I don't know how to find a good surgeon, and this surgery is not something to be taken lightly. I have reservations beyond what I've posted, and I'm basically looking for some answers to quell my concerns.
