Maybe you can talk to your doctor about your anxiety and he can give

you some meds to make it until your surgery. It sounds like you just

getting overstressed and giving yourself a panic attack. Hopefully

its not anything serious. Believe the anticpation is the worst part.

Don't frighten yourself. If an image is distressing then don't view

it and more importantly don't " ruminate " over it.

It sounds like a panic attack, i.e. an acute anxiety attack.

It sounds like anxiety so I doubt doctor will find anything

organically wrong.

Relax. Stop playing those " disaster movies " in your head. The

anxiety doesn't just hit you like lighting (although it can feel like

it does). Typically you would be making images in your head, running

all sorts of disaster scenarios, progressively working your anxiety

level higher and higher until it culminates in panic.

There are techniques for controlling anxiety but it is probably

beyond the scope of this forum to discuss them.

A short course of tranquilizers will help. It helped me.

Your OS should be able to re-assure about the unlikeliness or

temporariness of the things that are scaring you.

Once you've made the decision and made arrangements whilst your

recovering then try and put the matter out of your mind.

Also, come up with a contingency plan in case you need to take off

more than 2 1/2 weeks.

Good idea.

I hope that all goes well with your surgery and your recovery.

Best regards
