This morning I went to read to my daughter's first grade class. It's

Parent's As Reading Partners Month at her school. Anyway, I go into her

classroom and all these little 6 year olds sit on the floor in front of

me and a little girl leans over to my daughter and says, " Is that really

your mom? " (old thoughts come rushing back that something deragatory is

going to be said and I'm bracing myself ), my daughter said with such

pride in her voice, " Yep, that's my mom " and the little girl said, " Wow,

she's cool. I like her clothes and she's pretty " and then a few other

kids joined in and said " Yeah, she's cool " . I was worried that they

were going to say, oh my gosh, she's fat or something. I want to be an

embarrassment to my children when I'm supposed to be, when they're

teenagers and don't want to be seen in public with mommy or daddy, not

when they're in grade school because of my weight. I breathed such a

sigh of relief to myself. It felt good. What a day maker that was. I'm

now a " cool mom " . Whoopeeee

Just had to share.

Regina

PS: For the record, especially for you Bill, I was wearing a pair of low

rider Gap black jeans and a cornflower blue sweater with my black boots.

Thought the plaid skirt and knee socks or the leather whore outfit would

have been a bit too much for them to handle. : - )
