Guest guest
Hello, all, I just thought I would post a note from a long-time lurker about the whole Mandy/Lori flap of the last few days. This wasn't about gelatin anymore. It was about someone basically being asked to not continue a thread on the board that had already been recently discussed and that person's responses with what was perceived to be personal attacks. I have been around here awhile, and I know that there have been occurrences in the past where things got out of control in certain discussions. It is the moderator's job to try to keep these situations in check and keep the entire group focused on support for the members. Sometimes decisions have to be made, and just like in any family (read the group name, people), not everyone will be happy with the decision. I have NEVER known Lori to do anything hurtful, spiteful, or just plain mean to anyone in this group. I have never seen her censor a person or topic without cause. She has largely done a wonderful, patient, usually thankless job of moderating and managing everyone's needs to vent, get help, post info, etc. She has never made a decision rashly or without thought to the goals of the group as laid down by the founders. I do know she sought out the opinion of at least one other long-time poster before making her decision (and probably others as well). We may not know the whole story, and we probably never will. With that being said, I support the decision Lori and the other moderators have made. Remember, this is just one of many support groups around. While it is basically open to anyone to join, it is still owned and controlled by a group of individuals who have the right to run the group the way they see fit. If you disagree, you are just as welcome to leave as you are to stay. If you choose to leave, good luck to you. But if you choose to stay, welcome. I have gotten a huge wealth of info from this site and would personally hate to miss out on future posts just because my feelings got hurt over a family spat. Lori, keep your chin up and keep up the good work. What you do is incredibly helpful to a lot of people out there, even this ol' fat Daddy in Arkansas!
