Guest guest
Carol has already posted about the cost of the Vitaline CoQ10 wafers that were used in the Parkinson study. I just wanted to mention as an FYI that a friend of mine who has a neurological disorder called Friedreich's ataxia takes a different brand of CoQ10 manufactured by Tishcon (Q-gels). These are now available in 100mg gelcaps. http://www.epic4health.com/qgelmega100.html It looks like the cost to take 1200mg of this brand per day would work out to roughly $200 per month if bought in bulk. According to my friend this Q-gel brand is superior to many other brands because of it's relative " bioavailability " .. i.e the amount of CoQ10 that actually makes it to the bloodstream. I don't have any information on how it compares to the Vitaline brand. Again as others have stressed, if you are thinking of taking CoQ10 supplements don't just run out and grab the first bottle of CoQ10 you can find at the pharmacy. Do some research on your own as my friend did. He even emailed the researchers who make the various brands and asked them to explain why their brand was superior. No one should take high doses of supplements without being supervised by a physician. Incidentally my friend has been taking only about 100 mg per day for the past 3 or 4 years.
