I've been doing some research on the web and have found a lot of info on

acne and hormones, and I wonder if it may also apply to rosacea. For women,

it sounds as though anti androgens help. Apparently drugs like birth control

pills and spironolactone, as well as herbs like saw palmetto, can help. I

wondered if anyone knew anything about this or had tried this approach.

My rosacea is definitely linked to hormones (it's

worse during the week prior to my period). My derm

tells me that this is typical among women in their 20s

and 30s who suffer from rosacea. I haven't found

birth control to help. My derm has suggested that I

take a higher dose of antibiotics for the week prior

to period to see if that helps.

No it doesn't, LE. Acne is a completely different entity than even

the acneiform component of rosacea, much less rosacea in general.

That's not to say that common acne can't coexist with rosacea, or

that some hormones may interplay with rosacea but through its own

mechanism.
