Guest guest
I'm sorry you haven't found the right OS yet, but I am sort of going through the same thing right. My problem, however, is a bit different. I live in Maine, which is not a very populated state, and I'm wondering if the oral surgeons around here do enough cases per year for me to feel comfortable with them. I'm wondering if I should look into going to Boston for the surgery...but then my insurance may not cover the surgery because it would be out-of-network. Too many problems! I don't think too many people on this site are from Maine because I've asked for OS recommendations before and no one responded. I am leaning toward one local ortho/OS team, however, because they have excellent communication with each other and actually meet once every two weeks to discuss their cases. I know what you are talking about with the communication thing also, because that is one of the main reasons why I want this surgery. My teeth don't connect in front and I truly think this is effecting my ability to speak clearly. What about insurance...will you have OS coverage? Planning this whole thing out sucks because the patient really has to think about everything before they committ with one ortho or OS. Well, good luck, and I'm sure everything will work out. Guest guest
> 27 Thanks for the reply.. That is a tough situation this whole finding a doctor thing is much more difficult then i thought. Your right we do have to know everthing about our surgerys. Who I go see next or if I go back to this last OS I'm going to get a second opinion. It really upset me that they didnt speak to each other in the last three weeks. And they both said that they would, dont know if i can trust them. This is my first surgery ever and want things to be as smooth as possiable. My speaking problems is one of my main reasons for wanting this, pulse the open bite and problems eating. I just want somebody to answers my questions in a straight forward way. I wish there was a way i could do backround checks on all these doctors. Sorry but i dont have any info on doctors in Maine, I hardly can find one where i live. And I live 10min outside of DC. I really just dont know what to look for. Have you met with any yet to see what kind of surgery you could possiably be having? Hope all goes well with finding a doc, keep me updated; thanks again.
