Guest guest
Hey all! I had surgery on July 20th. Upper advancement and lower rotation and push back. Everything was actually going really well. I didn't bruise at all, I was starting to get my energy back, and my appetite was very big. But then, I went and saw my OS yesterday, and he gave me bad news. I have very delicate bone structure that moves almost effortlessly. What that translates into is that the bands they had be wearing had now over corrected what they were going for. So, here comes the good and the bad. The good is that I am done wearing bands. I only wear one at night, and the rest of the time I have none. But the bad is that I have to physically, with my finger or a tongue depresser, go in there and force my bones into the position they need to be in. My bone hasn't completely healed yet, so the teeth do move, but this is the most painful thing I have ever had to do. Never before have I had such aches in my joints, and now the swelling is starting to get worse. The deep bone pain is horrible. I am just miserable now, and I thought I was getting better. Has anyone else had to do this? If so, I could really use some advice. I am an RA, and next Thursday, I will have 60 young women moving onto a floor and looking to me for advice. Don't know how I will handle it. Thanks!

Guest guest
Ask them about using Celebrex, Vioxx, or even Alleve, to help with the pain. That may not resolve your troubles, but they may also help. Celebrex and Vioxx are prescription stuff. Alleve isn't. They can work wonders with pain. If that's not enough, ask for something stronger, but be careful. And be sure they know the extent of your pain. I am not a doc, nor even a hygenist, and they know way better than do i. Such pain is not something you should have to tolerate, and it may be signalling that something is awry. Also, ask them whether heat or ice might help. The use of depressors is not unusual, but I think you should let them know about the pain. I would suggest that such pain is not something they would expect, but I may be wrong. Better to check it out with those who are trained in such. The kiddoes are excited about their new adventures, and, I'll bet, so are you. Don't let your stuff get them down, but let them know you're having troubles, and I'd wager they'll be supportive of you. They probly have been through braces/surgery/whatever, themselves, many of them. C. > Hey all! > I had surgery on July 20th.
