Chin Tightness

Hey all,

I'm 3 and a half months post surgery for an open bite, and am

absolutely impressed with the results.

I'd say 95% of swelling and numbness is gone, just a small spot on

my lower lip gets tingly now and then.

My question is with tightness. I had a genioplasty too and I haven't

really noticed any improvements with the tightness in my chin. I do

exercises constantly to try and get the muscles working again and

whatnot but nothing seems to do any good.

Do a lot of you notice long lasting tightness? It's definitely

something I can live with, it just gets a little annoying sometimes.

--- Kirstin,

I'm almost 6 weeks postop and my chin is still tight and numb. I

was told this could take up to a year to have the area feel normal

again. I wasn't told to do any exercises to that area, it would

just recover on its own (hopefully). I'll be happy when the

numbness goes away. I can never tell when I'm dribbling food all

over my face!!! You give me hope that at 3 months the numbness will

be better!! Take care,

-at 3 months my chin is still about 50% numb. doc told me only

abut 1% have long term loss of sensation. I've read up to 10%. really

depends on your age and amount of advancement. I still remember when I

had and impacted wisdom tooth pulled I had a little spot on my chin

that took abut a year to go away. relax cuz time is on your side and

everyone heals at their own rate. good luck/eric
