Re: replacing one addiction with another...

I too have the shopaholic syndrome. Replaced food with shopping, and I

totally stay away from alcohol, since alcoholism is rampant in my family and

I KNOW I have an addictive personality...

anyway, the way I handle the shopping this is 1) garage sales and 2) nothing

in the store unless it is at least 75% off regular price. For me, it's about

the thrill of the hunt, and I get my rush from finding a bargain. I too have

more clothes than will possibly fit in my closet, and I dress REALLY nice (a

client told me the other day that it must be really nice to be a RICH

REALTOR! If he only knew!) But I get all my stuff cheap, cheap, cheap, and I

get the thrill of shopping to feed my addiction. I figure if I'm AWARE of

it, and I control it (only bargain shopping) then I can handle it....I don't

think it would work for other types of addictions (alcohol, drugs, etc) but

it works for shopping....

Does that make sense???
