Try taking small bites, put your fork down, and chew really well. <<I know i need to take it really slow but sometimes i think it is not worth eatting because it hurts or i throw up. I waste so much food it is unreal. I miss going out to dinner with the family. I just hate feeling this way. not knowing if i am going to eat and if i am going to throw up or be in pain when eating. eating is really unejoyable for me. I hope i am not alone.. please tell me this is kinda normal? I >> **** Why couldn't you have a snack? A little cheese or sausage? An inch or two of hot dog (w/o bun)? A chicken nugget? As to wasting food, eat a bite or two off each of the family's plates. <<get so frustrated sometimes. i know my usband does to. he says this is getting old Nora you need to go slower and be more careful. I get so full so fast but then in a couple of hours i am hungery again. i really don't eat alot. >> **** Nora, you are different now. I used to eat once, sometimes twice a day, but I ate a lot at a time. We had surgery to change this. I now eat a piece of meat the size of my thumb, and a few bites of veg. And I'm almost 1 year out. It sounds to me like you're getting too hungry, then eating too much, too fast. For me, I drink shakes 6X a day, usually having 1 just before I eat (10-20 min). This calms the ravenous hunger. Then I can eat slower, less. I measure food most of the time - take out what I can/should eat, no more, then put the rest away. Eat it, then stop. Then, if I still feel like I gotta eat, I get away from the food. <<I have lost almost 50 pounds so far though. i do look good..I was 291 at the day of surgery now i am 246. i feel good. i work out everyday. >> Congratulations on the weight loss so far. You're doing very well! <<i just need so surport with this eating stuff. i get so hungery then i when i do it hurts or i throw up or i really only eat a tiny tiny bit. boy i think everything was so easy when i was on my HMR shakes... >> ****Go to VitaLady.com and try some samples of shakes. Start using them. EAt more often - 4-6 times a day, but small amounts. Our pouches don't stay as full as our stomachs used to . . . they empty pretty fast. DOn't eat everytime your pouch is empty, but you'll prolly need to eat a little more often than the rest of family. Take a shake 3-4 times a day. Take your vites. We empty quicker, eat less, so need to eat more often. But we especially need the fuel that protein shakes offer, which we can't get from food. BTW, why did you stop doing HMR shakes? My doc says (and my research indicates) that we need to do shakes for life . . . <<ok enough from me... Nora GB Lap 12-30-03 291-246-150>> **** You'll get thru this, Nora . . . be patient. FIgure out what works for you, but getting the proper nutrition (protein, via shakes) will help, I promise! Open, distal RnY 3.12.03 - Dr. Ki H.
