Guest guest
Hi , My name is Mike & after nearly a year and lots of set backs ,my wife Sue will get an RNY on March 18th in Philadelphia. My most worrysome thought is about long term (a couple of years) affect this will have on my wife. I know a gastric by pass is not a new operation but there are very little studies on Lap operations 10 years back. My wife is a diabetic, suffers from high blood pressure.. She is not wayyyyyyy over weight . 5 ft about 235.. It is fine with me but not her!.She sees her father taking 4 shots of insulin a day. As most people who want this procedure , she has tried all the diets ,weightwatchers , Craig ..ect. Is she going to regret this a year or so from now? She says her legs can't take steps , other things ache.. I want her to feel better inside and outside. We have seen 3 Doctors. They all say she is a good canidate for this proceedure. Even our primary doctor like the idea.. Most of our problems were with insurance. Or Doctors moving. Some hospitals don't want to do gastric by pass..not enough money in it. The Doctor she will have has done over 100 laps's & over 300 bypasses in all. Should I feel afraid , how can i support her better ? I think our kids who are 21 thru 34 really don't want her to do this, but don't say so. She is getting nervous , so am i . We have read it all ..Thanks Mike
