Guest guest
I would definitely give the OS a call. My son is having his wisdom teeth out, and that was one of the complications we were told could happen.

Guest guest
Hi everyone I'm new to the board I had my surgery on both the upper and lower jaw Mon. Aug 9. I was released on wend. Aug 11. I stayed in the pediatric icu of the hospital. This is where my OS prefers for his patients to stay. All went well I have an awsome surgern and the nurses in the icu were top of there field. I was banded with a splint. When I went home my mother took care of me and all went well for the first few days then i caught a virus from a family member. I would just like to say thank god for the portable suction machine the hospital loaned me. The next few days were awful and contained many calls to my OS. Aug 16 my OS took off my band and i saw my ortho both say eveything is fine. But I am having a problem right now. When I drink or try to rinse out my mouth the liquids come out my noise. Has anyone had this problem? Can anyone give me any advice? Also I still have my splint in and would like to know about an average how long I will have to keep it? Guest guest
first...i have a question for ya. this is kinda gross...but do you have like a yellowish fluid draining from your nose? because when they're up in that area, it's right around where your sinuses are and they can be damaged. i experienced this from an oral surgery about 6 months ago when i had an impacted tooth removed that was way up into my sinus area, and also from the nasal turbinectomies that i had done in conjunction with my jaw surgery last week. my OS said the sinus tissues is extremely thin...almost like tissue paper. it should heal itself...but ask your OS to makes sure everything is okay. and the antibiotics are a must for good healing as well! > Hi everyone > I'm new to the board I had my surgery on both the upper and lower > jaw Mon. Guest guest
Your OS seems to be on a similar track to mine. I also went to the pediatric ward, and to a post-anesthesia recovery unit, which was a sort of icu. I was also sent home with a portable suction machine (rented, not borrowed) that I never needed. Sounds like you made up for me on that score! Can't help about the nose, but then I didn't have upper. Ask your doc about that one. My splint was in for seven weeks (I'd been promised six, and was majorly disappointed until I realized that I'd rather keep the danged thing in there for six months than screw up everything everybody had worked so hard to get.
