Guest guest
I cant believe its taken me so long to update on my surgery but I had surgery! December 4th, 2003. Im now 5 weeks postop, (Lap RNY) My scars are healing brilliantly, Ive had no problems, and my doc just put me on solid foods. I actually went to a restaurant for dinner tonight without incident. In fact the only " problem " I have is the burping. I was never much of a burper before surgery but boy, I could win a competition now with my burping! Ive had a few incidents of regurgitation and one or two throwups but nothing too awful. I do have some questions about food though for the experts out there because the literature out there is so contradictory. I see recipes that contain pasta, bread, rice, and tortillas. I thought we as wls postop people werent allowed to eat these foods. I have read that toast is ok but soft bread not. And to overcook the pasta and rice and toast the tortillas so theyre not completely soft. So would quesadilla's be ok to eat with a good filling? Ive also seen WLS dip recipes with chip recommendations for dipping. I have also seen protein pasta for sale. Would that be better than regular pasta? Are these things only ok to eat after 6-12 months postop or after youve lost all your weight? Otherwise all is well, Im losing weight steadily, my doc is happy, Im happy and Im feeling well.
