Guest guest
Hey all, had my surgery on tuesday morning 7:30 to 11:00. I had a lefort I Osteomety and I am going to be banded for two weeks with no splint (yes!). Afterwards, my doctor said it went perfect and him and the assistant said that my case woulda been a perfect one for a big audience. The first day I was so congested it was nuts..and I was one of the unlucky ones who puked, but it actually turned out not to be bad. About 5 nurses converged on me within a second of it and cleaned me up in a minute. Don't worry bout the puking, it wasnt bad at all and more of a relief. Ive gotten in a few hours of sleep here and there, but since today, I have just swelled up like nobody's business. I think it peaks at 3-4 days right? wow...I cant imagine my face being any bigger. Anyway, Im extremely happy to be out of the hospital (left exactly 24 hours after the end of the surgery, I felt like I didnt even need to stay the night). Currently the hardest thing to do for me is breathe as Im doing it through my banded teeth and sparingly through the noise as decongestants take effect. One thing I gotta recommend is TONS of liquids like apple juice (I used syringe first tiem I drank, but since have been able to use a cup), and definitely using the hydrogen peroxide/q tip combo to clean the nose. Also, ask your doctor, but Ive been using children's sudafed to also help with decongestion. Anyway, to my other buddy who had the surgery the same day, please let me know how you're doing, and for everyone going in, wish you the best of luck and thanks for the support!
