Guest guest
I am no doctor but my first order of business would be to find another OB-GYN who is knowledgeable in patients and in WLS....we have made a decision that will affect all other decisions that doctors make...I love my PCP and he is knowledgeable about WLS and what the dos and don't are as far a medicines....I would be very careful and be proactive...find a doctor that listens and cares, and is willing to find something that works for you.. which might not work for everyone. I know not having insurance is a tough one because some docs do treat others differntly but if you are self-pay.. then you have the same rights as anyone else...so good luck and I hope you feel better soon.... Personal Site: http://pages.ivillage.com/tunakins2003 -- (unknown) Hi all, I didn't get many replies to my first post so I am posting it again in hopes of getting some help. At the end of the post I will attach the new changes. Please reply if you have any advice I am in awful pain. I hope this letter finds you all doing well. I haven't posted in a while, but I keep up on reading the post of others. I am having a problem and so once again I turn to you guys for help. I had surgery (lap) on August 19 since I have lost 70 lbs and feel great with one exception. Since surgery my Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrom has gotten worse. I am having sever pains in my lower abdonmin during ovulation and horrid cramps during my periods. And also, not to get to personal, sex has become so painfull I can't stand it. Before surgery I could take a Lortab 5 and it would fix the pain when it got to sever for Advil. Since the surgery I can't get any relief from the pain. I have spent most of the weekend in bed with a heating pad. I can't go on like this. I understand that due to the size of our new stomach meds tend to loose some effect, so I was wondering if anyone might have any other suggestions. I have tried crushing my husbands Lortab 10, it works for about 15 minutes and then not at all. I have tried liquid pain medicine and it makes me vomit, I guess because of the taste. I am at the end of my rope. The pain is so sever I can't stand it. I am going to call my GYN or my PCP tomorrow, but I am unsure if they will do anything since I had the surgery and the Dr. that did the surgery released me the last time I saw him. So, any help from you guys would be greatly appreciated. Have any of you had these problems? Did any type of pain meds work? If I can get in with my GYN or PCP what type of pain med should I ask for? My sister said to ask about patches, I have never heard of this. Does anyone know anything about that? Please send replys to my e-mail address weitlauf@c.... Thank you all, you guys have always helped my in the past. God Bless. So, yesturday I went to see my OBGYN. First let me say this, does anyone else feel they get treated differently due to you insurance coverage? In the past I have adored my OBGYN, he was a rock during my pregnancy with my twins, the were premies. But yesturday when I went to his office I informed the receptionist that I didn't have insurnace right now so I would be self paying. So, when I get back to see him and begin to tell him my symptoms he half listens. Then he tells me it sounds more like endometriosis than PCOS. Okay, I'm no Dr. so I accept that, all I really want is something to stop the pain. I explain to him about the bypass surgery and that medicine doesn't work as well now. I feel like he blew that off. He told me there was no use doing an ultrasound or any other test since I had them all a year ago when I was having similar problems. So his course of action was birth control pills. I hate BCP I have tried them in the past and when I was on the I gained weight, had terrible miagrains, sick stomach all the time, horrible mood swings, it was awful. I told him all this and his reply was it was either this or he could give me something stonger (I forgot the name but it started with a L) that would shut down my ovaries and cause me to go into premenapuase(sp). So, being 27 years ols I took the lesser of 2 evils. Then I made the mistake of asking him for something for pain. Well, aparently anyone without insurance is also a drug addict. So, he said the only thing he would feel comfortable giving me was Anaprox, by all means I want him to feel comfortable, I mean here I am laying on this table crying during the exam because it hurt so bad, but lets make HIM comfortable. I was so mad when I left there I was crying. So, I thought I would try to call the Dr. that did my bypass surgery and see if he had any ideas. His nurse called me back and told me that was something for my OBGYN, when I told her I had seen the OBGYN and what he had said she said I should follow his advice. So, I thought what the hell, he didn't go to med school for nothing. I got the meds filled, last night when I started hurting I took the Anaprox, nothing 2 hours later still hurting I took another and some Tylenol with it. Still no relief at all. I was lying on the bed crying. My husband wanted to take me to the ER, but since I don't have insurance I refused. So, I feel like I wasted an entire day. I am still hurting. Not to mention when I was checking into endometriosis on the internet it said that people who have had thier tubes tied very rarely get endometriosis, well guess who had a tubal after the birth of my twins!! So, I don't know what to do. I need advice and you guys are the only people that understand where I'm coming from. Please respond to my e-mail address weitlauf@....
