Guest guest
Just talked to a relative last night and she told me that many of her weight loss clubs members believe that very few people loose a lot of weight and that the surgery is not successful beyond 5 years. I am using low carb, high protein plan Atkins phase 2 and 3. I may attend some of these meetings to help dispel these rumors. I did my best to tell her of the several I knew and have personally met that have maintained weight loss beyond 5 years. I am coming up on 6 years now and I will be HER personal proof that it DOES work beyond 5 years. In fact, I feel as though (and sincerely hope and pray) I have been through the worse part of the " readjustment time " . I am comfortable and feel that I can maintain this weight life long and may even adjust to a lower weight at some point as I learn more and more. My RNY tool is still there and works to help me thru the tough times. More long term people need to come forward to help those that need help and cant get past the propaganda. Those that have gone before me, have certainly given me strength and hope. More of us need to do that. Even though I am not a perfect weight, I am certainly a success story. I believe there are many out there. There is no " magic " pill, but this surgery is life saving and a viable option for many that face death of quality of life. hugzzz flo 10/97 428lbs current weight 225lbs (fluctuates 10 lbs, lowest weight since surgery 216, highest weight 242, longest stable weight 220) size 16/18, 5'8 " tall my calves are still very large and that is why I can not wear smaller sizes in pants. I can wear large or 16/14 blouses and dresses. I dont like to wear dresses because my legs are out of proportion to the rest of me.
