Guest guest
I'm still very numb 18 months post-op! It was about 6-8 months before I even got a tiny bit of feeling. And that was when I took a humoungous chomp on my tongue. Didn't feel it at all despite profuse bleeding, but the next few days I felt a little ache and was never so happy to experience pain in my life! Now feeling still isn't anywhere close to normal, but it's coming back very slowly. Hang in there and good luck. --Neil > > I am only beginning to get a little alarmed that my tongue is still > as numb as it is. it's to the point where i think things like, man, > if only i could get that back, i could live with the tingle in my > chin or the semi numb gums. i seem to be back to biting my tongue > more frequently and it is really getting on my nerves (no pun!) OUCH. it just doesn't happen when eating, it happens now and again when i am teaching, imagine that, in front of 22 10-11 year olds! HA. Thanks for the support. > > > > I am only beginning to get a little alarmed that my tongue is > still > > as numb as it is. it's to the point where i think things like, > man, > > if only i could get that back, i could live with the tingle in my > > chin or the semi numb gums. i seem to be back to biting my tongue > > more frequently and it is really getting on my nerves (no pun!) > Has > > anyone had a numb tongue for a long time and had feeling come back > > 100%? I still bite my tongue regularly, the speech is different. And this week, ortho removed my upper braces and installed the retainer wire. Since then, I'm biting it even more often. I hope this goes away. Taste is also an issue. There are days when food doesn't taste good, no matter what I eat. Ray
