> Hey Ray, so pleased to hear you like your smile. After everything we go

through we

should all feel that way. I just have a question about your upper jaw numbness.

What do

your doctors say about this. Will it definitely come back? Do they not know?

What is the

time frame. I am sorry if you already covered this. I had been in a lot of

pain so I missed

a lot of posts. There are so many each day that it's hard to catch up. Thanks

for any info

you can give me. Livia

Here goes :

My case is not the standard, so don't be scared before you actually go

through all this yourself.

I'm 5 months post-op, and besides a very thin line at the far left edge of

my tongue, no feeling has returned. My palate is also mostly numb, and it

has not changed since the surgery. The tongue as improved barely, only

that thin line. The upper teeth have not changed at all, so as the gums.

My surgeon said it's not certain that I will remain in this condition for

the rest of my life, but that usually, there are signs that things improve

over the first few months. And I had none of these signs. That being

said, there are still chances the nerves could regenerate, but they are

few.

Still, I'm quite happy with the results, as the first goal was to eat

normally (I used to choked on ground beef, for example). And I can

now eat stuff I never dreamed of. I even had a pizza without the

fork and knife.. !!!! Too cool! Also, I can smile, which wasn't part of

my objectives, but I'm glad I got it.
