Guest guest
Dear Dan, I am glad you called SOMEONE, BUT you need to be SEEN. You are not a cartoon where you can hold the phone to your belly and ask the doc what he sees. Just tell us one thing: SERIOUS NOW, take your temp and tell us if it is normal or not? The Big Nurses are waiting.... You're seeing your old gastric bypass surgeon TODAY, RIGHT? You're not supposed to be LEAKING BROWNISH pus out of your navel. You're not supposed to be IN PAIN for weeks now. (yada, yada, the 'guy' thing about " I'm ok, really " is SO over) (To the rest of the gang... First of all, Dan is A REALLY GREAT guy if you ever get a chance to talk to him. I mean really, and what a beautiful voice he has. Secondly, Dan did not want to reveal the source of his, ah, 'Phone calls from ladies yesterday " , savvy guy that he is. But remember vita mom and ceep mom threatening " to come up there " if people didn't behave? Well, let's just say Dan experienced the Washington Whirlwind and the Texas Tornado up personal and close yesterday.) (... and the next step Dan, are you listening? is for the Definitive Duo to call and talk to your WIFE if you don't keep following through IN A TIMELY MANNER... which is going to be a lot like the principal calling your parents---you just DON'T want to go there... Besides, as you know we can form a telephone tree in an INSTANT on this list, V-mom and c-mom can have the brave and bold men and women of this list hounding you at your cell phone door in seconds... so, let us know what is going on, ok? ) This is just my two cent's worth Dan, you know I am not an alarmist, quite the contrary. Even though I am skeptical about the idea of " a late-breaking stitch " from a surgery you had how many years ago? we all want you to be well. Remember TT is last on list, Dan's safety is number ONE on the list. You can be excited about the possibility of this contributing to getting a tt, BUT, til we really know what this is, (not just, oh its' an infection, here are some antibiotics, go home now) until then, we know what the priority is--not TT, but YOUR HEALTH. Besides, you have to model proper behavior for the other people on this list so they know that if they have pain and a suppurating open wound, they HAVE TO GO TO THE DOCTOR or ER STAT! It bears mentioning to you again, do not let a dr. lull you; you have to get a picture of your INSIDES. Say it IS a massive infection from a " stitch... " Okay, has it spread? Has the infection attached itself to any other organ? NO DOCTOR CAN SEE THROUGH WALLS; they cannot know what's what without a CT or PET Scan, not an xray, a CT or PET or MRI. You told us you had a serious heart condition not all that long ago, (you probably thought ceep mom was senile and doesn't remember things like this... but you would be wrong) so, you cannot in any way mess with anything that might give you an infection. Going home with a passel of antibiotics on a guess and a prayer is not proper, or is just looking from the " outside " without 'magic pictures.' Antibiotics can mask the condition, slow it down and let it get entrenched deeper inside the body all the while, til it erupts again later. My two cent's worth Dan. I hope it is 'just a stitch' and that the end of it can be pulled out and you are better right away. That would make all of us the happiest. Let us know what doc says/does/ wants to look into further. Hang in there. love, ceep G-mom

Guest guest
I will bring up the possibility of any and all things cyst, fistula or just the " meaness coming out " to the doc tomorrow. I would prefer not to wind up with open anythings draining anywhere for Q-tips cleansing or even having anything to do with a situation where pain or discomfort is involved. Being the natural chicken that I am...my rule of thumb is: Death before dishonor...or even mild discomfort. I had too much non-fun in the post WLS process; your description of something like that once again is something I'd prefer not to venture back into. Thanks! Guest guest
Hang on there...you've never seen me, I could be a cartoon character; although I would prefer to be more like my true hero...ALF the Alien! I am being seen in the AM by Dr Waits; and although the female trepidations were high around the household with last night, I did wake up once again..bound to my feet, run in to the kitchen to make coffee, trip over the cat and start a new day. Dr Waits was good enough to not send me to the ER last night...but only after passing his bevy of questions as to whether or not I was sickly getting sicker. I need to point out that Ed Waits is not a lap type of surgeon...he's a hand's on type of guy, so I did get unzipped from the sternum to the naval, the opinion was not totally out of ordinary for either a suture pocket or even a small tear from within the naval from some sort of activity. But, he did request that I come in and I'm going to do that rather than risk the forthcoming clamor from Ceep/Mom and the VitaLass.<G> Now...threatening me by calling ! That's a pre-emptive attack!! <G> Beautiful voice? Hah! " I was born like this... ....I had no choice.... I was born with the gift of a golden voice. " This was a song by Leonard Cohen...who obviously never recognized his vocal shortcomings.<G> I on the other hand realize that I sound like Leonard Cohen with pleuresy and a gastric tube stuck down my nose. But...thanks for the compliment anyway!<G> On the other hand, Ceep has the voice of Judy and sounds like Annie Haslam...they should try a duet of soft, melodic vocals....rather than using those voices to rat me out to my wife!<G> Thanks ladies!
