Guest guest
Today marks the 14th weekly anniversary of me getting the surgery done (upper, lower, genio, sinus) But, today marks a very big, big step in my recovery... I had my first Duo Burger with cheese !!!!!!!!!!!!! Its height is a little under the Big Mac, but it's much thicker than an Happy Meal. It's from Harvey's (I don't think Harvey's exist outside Canada, but I could be wrong). Anyway... I didn't have to squeeze it to fit, it just fit in my mouth very nicely... wow !!! So, for everybody else who just had this surgery and now are starting to think it's the end of the world, let me assure you, there is hope, and it could come very quickly. 14 weeks is very " soon " , I assure you. I've been told by my surgeon that to gain that much opening could take (and usually does) up to 6 months. 14 weeks is just over 3 months. You may say I have a big mouth now.. haha! As for the rest, things are proceeding normally (which is always too slow, according to me...), but they are getting better. Yesterday, I had a tingling sensation in my teeth (lower right). It was really weird as if the nerves inside my teeth were coming back alive. I mean, they were never damaged, simply numb. And, more strange, but equally fun, was a tingling sensation in my tongue, on the left side (I still have half my tongue numb). Well, I *had* half of it. Because this morning, there's a little sensation at the left extemity. Not much, but again, there's hope! I must also be at a threshold of some sort because of the pain in my hear and face that's more active than usual. Let me explain. I don't have 24 / 7 pain. Left hear had a sharp pain, twice a day, at more or less regular interval (12 hours, more or less). I know, X-Files stuff... Surgeon said that I had so much swelling in the joints that it's kind of normal for that sort of pain to show up, and persist. Last week, it was almost gone (it was very faint, and lasted only 1.5 second, and only once a day). However, today and yesterday, it kind of came back as it was at first. And my face has been hurting more for the last two days as well. Nothing that would get me to take some pills, though. I must remind myself not to touch my face, that helps to avoid pain. And especially avoid touching the plates, every 9 of them. That would be easy if I was on vacation, but since I'm still at work (until Friday), I do need to shave, and I have 5 plates where I shave. Growing a bear is not an option (I have like 3 hairs per square inch... hehe!) I will call my surgeon if the pain isn't gone by Friday, or has at least started to go away. Overall, everything is just fantastic!!!! I got nice words from upper management today, regarding the way I managed my new team so far... (I got promoted last week).. Could it be my new bite & smile.. ? Naaa... ;-) Ray
