Guest guest
My surgeon requests yearly appointments, too....no one can force or require anything! It is part of the National Institute of Health Guidline, just as preop info meetings are. It is also a means to track postop success or failure...I don't like that word, but can't think of another right at the moment. When people gain weight, he and Joyce, the nurse running the program never say 'you failed', they say 'the surgry failed you. how can we halp?' I like that. Yearly checkin is also a way to keep up with any potential or current post op problems...like weeight gain. I think it is a good idea and will be scheduling stops in Minnesota to do so. When we questin these surgeons about post op outcomes and success rates, problems, what have you, where do you think they get the info from? It all adds to their expertise, as does being able to present scietifically at teh ASBS meetings. Corrine
