Hi everyone!

Having discussed with my surgeon what type of surgery I need, it was

more or less settled on upper jaw moved up and lower jaw moved back.

However it was decided the fine details would be decided later on as

my orthodontic treatment continued.

One of the things he mentioned was that as I have quite a narrow,

long face, as well as shortening it by moving the upper jaw up, he

could actually widen it at the same time as bringing the jaw back to

fix my overbite.

He explained that this would be done by making the break further

back, (he gestured at the part of the jaw bone coming down from your

ear), and that the bone could be positioned in such as way as to

widen the face/jaw.

Does anyone know what this is called? And what is involved? I have an

inkling it may be called a ramus somethingorother. But Im not sure!

Any help would be fantastic.
