Guest guest
I had surgical hooks put in yesterday and they are so uncomfortable. I'm catching my tongue on my brackets and they are tearing my lips up (thank goodness for wax). How long after surgery do the hooks come off? Thanks,

Guest guest
, I had that same problem. The orthodontist bent the hooks down as far as he could and they no longer cut up my lips. I ended up having something that looked like a big mole in the inside of my mouth. The oral surgeon cut it out when he did surgery. My ortho put my hooks on in June because I was supposed to have surgery then. I just had surgery Oct 26 and still have the hooks because I have rubberbands. But ask the ortho if he can bend the hooks down for you. It helped me. > > I had surgical hooks put in yesterday and they are so > uncomfortable. Guest guest
, i had surgical hooks put on about 4 weeks pre surgery and had them off at about 9 weeks post. it seemed like they were in for a long time, but i will tell you this, when i got them out, it was almost as good as getting my braces off. i felt FREE!!! it is a wonderful feeling! Good luck. katie > > I had surgical hooks put in yesterday and they are so > uncomfortable. I'm catching my tongue on my brackets and they are > tearing my lips up (thank goodness for wax). Guest guest
If I were you I would make the orthadontist re adjust them, it sounds like they did a poor job and having cuts and so on is not going to be at all fun after surgery and can induce infection. mine are meatal of some sort and welded on to the wire they lie flat against my gums. I still have them on three months after the surgery for future use for elastics. > > I had surgical hooks put in yesterday and they are so > uncomfortable.
