Guest guest
To those who have no problems with protein shakes I am jelous. I seem to dump regardless on any type of shake. I hope this goes away in a few months because I will be living on the shakes soon. I have my date for my fistula repair its Friday May 23,2003. That's two days after my 4 year anniversary. I can't wait to get back to normal again because my fistula keeps reminding me its still there. The pain, the acid reflux, the not being able to eat healthy, it sucks. I hope that's why I dump on the shakes and not some other reason. Fats make me dump too and I am only a short proximal I guess cause we don't have a gallbladder right well I don't lost mine before surgery. Sugars however no and that's why I am addicted to them I can eat a chocolate bar with no problem even wash it down with a soda. I know I am bad I am getting help. I was told I use food as a drug, take my anger out on myself, and have a fear of success. Now I know why I have gained 50lbs back of course though I just want to blame the fistula. I have been doing some reasearch and everything I found says that once you have one your surgery fails because the bypass bypasses the bypass. Really sucks in a way its like I never had surgery except that I still can only eat small amounts and I get sick unlike before wls. Any questions just ask fistulas are rare and can occur with any organs. I have heard of anal, vaginal, and intestinal but never gastro-gastric that's what mine is. The old bypassed stomach decided that it wanted to join back to the side of my pouch and form a tunnel like connection. I am transected again I was told they most likely occur right after surgery not 3+ years later. But again I want to make this clear too I had to have my spleen out due to an accident and I also had an ulcer at one time and we think that is where the fistula formed. Fistulas form where there is a weakened area of skin like due to an ucler or where there is scar tissue like with my spleen. Hope this don't cause too much confusion, Kristy
