Guest guest
I too gave up on carbs. About a month ago I did a one day fast, as if I were going to have a colonoscopy or something. I just drank water, hot tea, and bullion broth for the day and went to bed early. The next morning I was not hungry so I waited a little and then had a protein shake. I brough hams and cheeses with me veggies, fruit and some other protein for lunch. And then that is what I have done everyday since. Just proteins, yogurt, fruit, salads/veggies and nuts/seeds. As time went on I noticed that my portion sizes went down and I was not needing to snack so much anymore as I did with the carbs. With this new diet I was able to lose weight that I had gained over my lowest weight (I had been going up and down the same 10 lbs for a year now) and now have gone 10lbs lower. Before I had started the more strict protein diet I had reduced my carbs as much as I thought possible and had begun to lose weight also but more slowly. In addition to the change in diet I committed to myself that I would at lease walk for 30 min a day. So I would walk anywhere from half to a full hour and sometimes add weight workouts too. If the weather was not good to walk outside I would go to the gym and bike for 20-30 min and walk on the tredmill for the difference (I hate walking much on a tredmill). So needless to say I have been very happy with this change. I do have to admit it has not been hard for me to do because I live alone so it is easy for me not to have carbs around because I don't buy them. But they are around work and at restaurants when I go out and I just say no. Yesterday I had such an urge to eat some rich chocolate ice cream that I even gave myself permission to indulge. But once I got up and was ready to go to the store to buy it, I asked myself " What are you doing, you have been doing so well, you don't need this?! " So I put my purse away heated up a cup of coffee and did not have it!!!! That to me is major progress!!! Now I am just dealing with some hairloss, so I plan to go get some Biotin tonight and up my protein shakes some! Good Luck to all, V.
