Recommendations for Tampa area?

I have decided to go through with the surgery to correct my

underbite. Now I am running into decisions that are stressing me

out! :) I went to an orthodontist and had a consultation and records

done. He also told me that my teeth are already very straight with

the exception of one bottom tooth. He said he wouldn't recommend me

even having braces unless I am planning to do the surgery. He told

me that for his part alone it would cost me $7000. I think that is

kind of high when he already told me my teeth were straighter than

most, and when I have mentioned this to family and friends they all

think that is a bit high. The orthodontist said it was because my

case is different because I would be having the surgery. Did anyone

else find this to be true? I just can't decide if I should go

shopping around for a lower estimate or if this procedure truly is

that much more expensive than regular braces. I was also hoping

since he said my teeth were already straight that it might mean less

time in braces before surgery, anyone know if that might be the

case? I am extremely hopeful! :)

I was also wondering if anyone on here could recommend an

orthodontist or oral surgeon in the tampa/clearwater/st. pete area of

FL. I would be willing to drive some if needed. I am not sure how

to make sure I have found a good one on my own. I am new to this

area and do not know many poeple yet that I could even ask. I have

been trying to go by insurance but I feel like I am almost picking a

name out of a hat. That's not very comforting to me! Does anyone

have any advice on how you know you have picked a good one?

Sorry for all the questions! I am new to this and really unsure of

everything. Thanks!
