I'm relatively new to this group. This is my first time to post but

I've been reading the posts off and on for a few weeks. I started

the process for surgery in December of 03 by attending an

orientation. My appointment with the surgeon was February 20th. I

just found out today that my insurance approved the surgery (I have

to add that I was initially shocked at what my pre-payment would be

to the hospital, but I've recovered from the shock..I think) I have a

surgery date of May 24th and I'm scared. I have panic/anxiety

disorder (for which I take medication) and I'm a bit claustrophobic.

I addressed this with the surgeon and he reassured me that I would be

able to get my meds through an IV, but I'm still worried I'll have a

panic attack while I'm in the hospital. Does anyone else in this

group suffer from panic/anxiety disorder? I have a many other

concerns but that's at the top of my list right now. Thanks in

advance for any imput.

Note: I still have to see the internist, cardiologist, bloodwork and

have the psy eval, which I'm concerned about given my panic attacks.
