It's Helen here (lower jaw, vertical ramus osteotomy July 15th).

Today I had my regular ortho checkup and a follow up w/my dentist

and the verdict is that my front teeth have been irreparably chipped

by my class III underbite. Anyway, both ortho and dentist agree

that to make my bite and smile " perfect " I will need 4 veneers on my

top 4 teeth.

I think that I am going to do it, even though they are $640 a pop!

I asked both Dr.'s if they really thought that this was necessary

b/c I'm not a movie star or on Extreme Makeover or any of those

reality shows. They both agree that the veneers will make my bite

the most functional it can be and after I've put everything into

this (surgery, 2 1/2 years in braces and dental work to fix my other

teeth problems) why not finish it the right way?

The good news about this whole thing is that my braces are coming

off in late spring or early summer so that's better than I thought.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone else needed veneers or had them?

They didn't recommend composites because of the wear and the fact

that veneers last 20-25 years.

Thanks in advance for any help.
