Hi All,

I had my surgery Friday, and today is 3 days post op. I'll tell you

the first thing I feel in the morning is the fact that I am happy I

got it done and out of the way. Now I can't wait for tomorrow when

I can start cranking the expander and start seeing positive

resaults.

Here is my account of my experience. I have been considering

getting braces for a long time, but because my teeth were never a

sever issue I held off. I finaly decided to do it for myself and my

future dental health. My ortho said that my upper jaw was too

narrow and I would need a paletal expansion, which is not only

expensive by nerve racking as its a major surgery. To make a long

story short, keiser fully covered the surgery cost, and it only

lasted 40 minutes. I currently look like a chipmunk, with all the

swelling in my upper lip and cheeks, but I am sure it won't last

many more days. The pain was not that bad and I only required

codine at half the dosage prescribed. So I am on my way to recovery

happy to have met DR. Poor at Oakland and looking forward to the

time when I can enjoy a steak again without having to fuss with my

mouth. I will not tell you the surgery is carefree, it is a major

surgery that requires some sacrifice, but in the end I will not

regret wondering what if.

As always, thanks to everyone who was supportive and helped me with

questions I had.
