Guest guest
interesting and thanks! Now let me share my whole foods store story with you. So, I go in there in an effort to add 15% or more protein to his diet. Sure I will continue to add fiber b/c fiber burns sugar. Anyway, I asked for some help in finding a vegan protein shake and stevia flavoring. When I am introduced to this very tall woman who is thin. I explained to her that I have a son with developmental disorder and mentioned Apraxia/Dyspraxia. She had heard of it but couldnot remember what neurotransmitters it affected. So, I am impressed already. I explained that Charlie has a metabolic problem and filled with Aluminum. Bottom line is that she shared with me that (correct me if this is wrong) T4 and T3 are supposed to share with one another: however, T4 cannot give to T3 if there is a heavy metal like aluminum blocking it. She said once we get rid of the aluminum, we will see a major improvement. I felt better. She gave me her docs name and I will see him as well about this. We had a great conversation. She has had thryoid problem all her life and has cured her self of chroins disease. I will get this solved. [ ] Re: Heavy Metals Test Results from DAN! - High Aluminum - Very Long Bottom Line: You have to address diet more. Less packages and sadly, gluten and soy and likely rice. Soy elimination may help the thyroid thing...never know til you try. Gluten, same thing. You are the ying to my yang. I did diet without fully addressing supplements and you did supplements without fully addressing diet. Given Charlie's fast progress I suspect he, like my guy, fits only 2/3 of Dr. 's observed syndrome. If so that makes us two of the lucky ones. Is the copper low too or just the copper is too much and the zinc too little? Change that water. It will remove a lot of exposure. As for aluminum, I suspect to see high aluminum as well. Remember, that is what came out in last 3 months, when you started detox. Good sign! This sucks but you caught it. Someone said something to me that applies here: The only way out of depression is action. You are acting and responsibly at that. Hang tough. If you need diet help just email me off list. Also, consider IGG testing to get all allergins but find out if the fish oil will alter results? You may not have inflammation because the fish oil is masking allergen. > > Received Charlie's Heavy Metals test results yesterday in the mail. > If you can at all recall, Charlie started on Vitamin therapy in > August and at that time had 6 approx words. Guest guest
hey wendy this was a hair test by DAN! It may be because it appears Charlie has an underlying metabolic problem. Like his mother of course. My thyroid panel shows that my T4 and T3 are fine: however, I have a goyder which is the result of a thyroid problem. . The gal with Chrons Disease shared some important info with me: T4 gives to T3. T4 cannot give to T3 if there is a blockage. Blockages are heavy metals in the system: Mercury and Aluminum. So this may just be the monster that has my child. I am scheulding an appt with this gals metabolic specialist on Monday. They do not take Insurance, of course. This guy has written books. So my plan is to work with DAN! to detox aluminum and remove it from the daily environoment as much as possible. Once we get rid of aluminum his metabolic problem should be better and he can process sugar better. Therefore, not blocking the absorbson of zinc which is causing this developmental delay. Vicious Circle. I come from a heavy metal town, Flint, MI. I have fillings (one side removed with the metal fillings), I drink too much DC from a can. Colleen mother of charlie 30 mos [ ] Re: Heavy Metals Test Results from DAN! - High Aluminum - Very Long Hi Colleen - What testing was this? It is interesting that the adrenals are so taxed. That can be related to metals. I am also intested in the " fast oxidizers " comment. Our daughter is extremely thin. I will post more in a separate thread, but she is having trouble gaining, and at the last visit was diagnosed failure to thrive. They recommended we put her on a high fat, high protein, no carbohydrate diet. They suspect, because her pyruvates tend to be high, that she has trouble matabolizing sugar. She also has some vitamin def, etc, though she eats ALOT. I wonder how they tested/determined her oxidation rate. We had no issues with lipid peroxidation, and our DAN! said the oxidation stress markers were good, but we have not had thyroid tested. We have a call in to and endocrinologist. We too had high aluminum ( and cadmium and lead) on a provoked urine test. Was this a blood, hair or urine? Was this done with a dr or privately (we are in NY, so a lot of the private tests are not available to us). Just curious. Our DAN! recommended aggressive chealtion (alternating rounds of IV caEDTA and DMSA), but I am having trouble pulling the trigger. Let me know. Guest guest
I got it at Whole Foods. I use almond milk and get Naturally Flavored Stevia Drops also from whole foods and mix it all together. Pretty Darn good. Charlie got an additional 24+g of protein in 2 shakes. I got the vanilla creme stevia and the dark chocolate stevia drops. I am looking forward to learning and making more with Stevia. http://store.nutribiotic.com/pgi-productspec?0151 Rice Protein Vegan, Plain 80% Protein Content Hypo-Allergenic GMO & Gluten Free NutriBiotic Rice Protein is a great tasting vegetable protein made from non-genetically modified whole grain brown rice. Free of the common food allergens normally associated with soy, milk, egg, wheat, corn, and yeast. This highly soluble powdered formula mixes easily into water, juice, or meals for an extra protein boost. Chemical processing is avoided by using a purified water and natural enzyme procedure. Low Temperature Enzyme Process The whole brown rice is first ground into a fine flour. Pure filtered water is then added, forming a thick slurry (called liquefaction) Natural enzymes are added in at different stages to break down and separate the carbohydrate and fiber from the protein portion of the whole grain. All processing temperatures are kept below 90° F. The low temperature and chemical free processing prevents denaturing of the amino acids. The final stage involves filtering, drying and low temperature milling. As a protein source, mix one or more servings into a glass of water or juice, or add to your favorite recipes. Use one to three times daily or as directed by a health-care professional. Enzymatically Processed Rice Protein from Whole Grain Brown Rice. Completely vegan. Contains no soy, milk, egg, yeast, corn, wheat, sugars, or preservatives [ ] Re: Heavy Metals Test Results from DAN! - High Aluminum - Very Long Tell me more about this shake. Is it GFCFSF? Guest guest
That makes me feel good. Because when I walked away from her I started to tear up. I know this sounds way cheesee but that song " no one to blame (from the 80s sings it) was playing and the tears flowed. Guest guest
I bought a counter top distiller for $200 this Christmas.... does the trick but there is still the issue of chorine and other chemicals in the bathwater. Mark has refused to drink anything but bottled/distilled water for a few years now. I didn't initiate this, he did. He obviously knew, intrinsicly, that the water was bad for him. He went swimming to a public pool over the Christmas break with a friend. It must have been 'loaded' with chemicals... either in the pool itself or in the hot tub. Mark broke out into a red rash on his face and legs.... and I swear that his legs were actually burned from the chlorine. His whole body hurt and not even the epsom salt bath helped. The other boy had no issues or responses. YUCK! Guest guest
Colleen, You have a lot going on here. This is complicated but the upside is that there is a lot you can do for improvement right? The worst thing for me for many, many years was getting normal results (before I discovered the wonderful world of metabolic testing & biomed) since that meant that there was nothing I could do.... nothing to fix. I second the no carbohydrate diet thing.... Mark's older and has been dealing with this a lot longer so guess what? .... his sugar levels after a 12 hour fast are pretty high, not diabetic but much to high to be comfortable with. After cutting out all of the artificial sugars already, what is left? Carbohydrates. Jeepers. Mark's thyroid testing came back okay. We still wait for iron and b12. I suspect that our children's bodies are under such oxidative stress due to the heavy metals that they just begin to break down prematurely. I mean, it seems like a lot of this stuff is 'old age' ailments, not issues you would see in youngsters! More and more I become convinced that we must get the metals out before every system in our children's bodies are destroyed. Chelation used to scare me but when I see the trouble that is happening inside my son.... I say, bring it on and get that garbage out of my child! Colleen... I posted before on glutathione. Check Charlies sulphate levels, are they low on the tests? Or, try him on an epsom salts bath and see how he fairs. I say this because if he responds well to sulfery stuff then you should begin to supplement with glutathione as it helps to relieve oxidative stress in a major way. But some of the kids regress with glutathione and the sulfery products so caution is required and you need to go low and slow. BUT... glutathione is a MAJOR antioxident in the body. It is the bodies method of keeping us healthy and vital. For instance, cancer patients will be low in glutathione, WHY, because the low glutathione allows the outside invaders in. Good glutathione levels = good health. We are also supplementing with glycine which the body uses to make glutathione. Mark has 'late stage' glutathione deficiency which means he has been struggling for a long, long time. His body has to work 20 times harder to fight bad guys. There is a lot of contraversy about glutathione and how best to administer it so to get the body to absorb it. I have found that the oral glutathione does work well but you need to get the 500 mg capsule and not play around with the 'small stuff'. Glutathione is tough to absorb but when you get it in, there is a true difference in function. I see a real difference in Mark when he is off the glutathione. He is more fatigued and less alert. Another idea for supplementation is NAC or N-acetyl-cystiene which helps the body to manufacture glutathione. Now.... Charlie may be different since he is an 'immune function' kid.....SO.... With regards to immune deficiency and thyroid function, ask your DAN doctor or research the Mito Cocktail that many are using successfully with their kids. A Mito Cocktail really does boost the immune system. I also use the drink Power 4 by Genesis for Mark. He gets a shot glass in the mornings if I see that he is down and has low energy. It perks him right up. Have you watched any of the webcasts on www.autism.com? I have found them an absolute necessity to develop a good understanding of all of the biomed stuff. In addition, go to the site of the labratory that did your testing. They will often have little 'courses' and lectures on their sites that help you interpret your labs and relate to the conditions seen. This was what I was able to do with Mark's labs and although it was a case of a 52 year old lady with chronic fatigue.... I learned a lot about each section of my lab, what all of the indicators meant and how to look at the results intelligently. Also at Autism.com there is a publication called " Summary of Biomedical Treatments for Autism " that is worth printing out if you haven't read it already. It is at http://autism.asu.edu/Additional/Summarybiomed07.pdf I go next week back to the environmental doc for a 'diet lesson'. He wants to put Mark on a very specific diet that may have some of the nasties that I have been avoiding ie, not as organic as I would like but... to lower his glycemic index and to prevent him from getting diabetes. So, it will be another change. sigh. Gotta run, the Mister just got up one more time.... he is having trouble falling asleep. At 11:30pm on a school night, this is no good... time to take out the melatonin. Janice Mother of Mark, 13 [sPAM][ ] Re: Heavy Metals Test Results from DAN! Guest guest
Do you have a link for the $80 whole house filter? They did something to our water this week and now I actually smell the cholorine - yuk! From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of ilizzy03 Sent: Sunday, January 13, 2008 8:49 PM Subject: [ ] Re: Heavy Metals Test Results from DAN! - High Aluminum - Very Long How did you get a distiller to get fluorine out for under $2500? The only NSF certified one for that that I found was $2500 so I bought the $300 ro filter. Most of the bad stuff in the house/bath water aside from fluoride can be reduced by 95% with an $80 whole house filter. They are big on chlorinating here so that was $ well spent. > > I bought a counter top distiller for $200 this Christmas.... does the trick but there is still the issue of chorine and other chemicals in the bathwater. > > Mark has refused to drink anything but bottled/distilled water for a few years now. Guest guest
Liz, Just talked to my DAN! Going Thurs at 4 PM. So will have more to share after. Anyway, her plan of action is to of course, raise zinc because this is leading to so many of the mineral depletion and of course immune system issues. In the meantime, we are going to start to give him ionized minerals that dont go through the digestive system. Anyone done this? Guest guest
Janice, I am so very appreciative of your taking the time to answer this. Currently, I give him an epsom salt bath 2x per week or so - when I think he needs it. Also wash him daily with vegetable based soap with camomile. Then I use the Oxi cell Glutatione & S,O.D anti-oxident cream. Applied to vasular areas. I am very interested in Glutatione, as I have read in your posts. Some of his homeopatic minerals we used to detox the kidney had Glutatione in it. As for my approach. I am positive that we have found some good stuff to tackle in this tissue & mineral analysis completed by hair sample. I spoke with my DAN! today and we are going to start ioinzed minerals on Thursday. They will bypass the digestive system and go straight to his system. Then begin detox on the Aluminum with Homeopathics. She believes it is not primarly the vaccines but the environment. She said she is not surprised by this, as she see so much aluminum in kiddos. We are going to start there on Thursday and get our game plan ironed out for next steps. She mentioned a Tridad urine test by metametrix. The Zinc issue is leading to so much of this mineral deficiency. In the meantime, throwing out pots and pans and items that scare me. I am making an appt with Dr. Mark Starr - goole him. He is big on metabolic outside of the box stuff. Apparently he had some metabolic issues himself and solved them himself. Now that is my kind of doc. The nebulizer is an interesting piece and I am going to bring that up. You are a godsend! Thanks. Colleen Mother of Charlie 30 months RE: [ ] Re: Heavy Metals Test Results from DAN! - High Aluminum - Very Long Colleen, So what do you do? A footbath.... transdermal cream? Or the other point of entry would be to inhale the minerals..... (like a nebulizer) I have heard of kids getting nebulized glutathione (I tend to pay attention to GSH stories) with good success on other boards..... I'm sure that if you can do it with that, you can do it with other nutrients as well. How do you think she will approach this? Guest guest
I have become a BIG FAN of Metametrix Labratories! Amazing tests! Will google Dr. Starr.... [ ] Re: Heavy Metals Test Results from DAN! - High Aluminum - Very Long The old age ailments scare me too...particularly the constipation. How does one test for sulphate levels? I am headed to the DAN again with many more questions. Guest guest
, Thanks so much for taking the time to share this wonderful information. My son's DAN! believes that there is more mercury in him than shows up on the hair analysis. Please stay around for more questions. This is good stuff. Thanks, Colleen Mother of Charlie 30 months [ ] Re: Heavy Metals Test Results from DAN! - High Aluminum - Very Long WOW. I've been a bit out of touch but I wanted to chime in a bit because i'm down the road a bit further but.. your kids' hair analysis is a mirror image of my son's, he is now 5. I'm going to try to be brief. I started on the list when my boy was 3.6 yrs (june 06)- the point when I said enough is enough w/mainstream " wait, sorry about your luck and here is your ticket to life long special ed " . This was also the time when appeared on the list, Thank You ! Back then, no one wanted to openly talk about TOXICITY. And all of the apraxia / dyspraxia stuff is really related to the FACT that our kids are TOXIC. As I was figuring this thing out, I was mad as he** that is was right in our face and if we mention it openly we got repremanded (oh, yes, i got a bit of a lashing). So, mothers where sharing the real goods off the list. So happy to see that nonesense has ended. THANKS to all of you new Mom worriors who simply won't stand for it! JANICE!!! a red carpet surly waiting for you at the ol' golden gates. Anyway, my intention is to bring you all to your/my kid at 5. I personally think the chain of command is a waste of time and money. Go straight to an ACTIVE!!!! DAN! Dr. Don't think for a second that he/she needs to be anywhere near your home. Not necessary at all... you need the BIGGEST AND BRIGHTEST NOW! While this journey is a marathon rather than a race... you are against the clock. I like Neubrander, Usman, Rossignal, Stoller, Green, McCandliss, Bock, Bradstreet, there are plenty of others but be aware... there are stinkers. And while you may like your chosen Dr.'s compassionate, kind charasmatic ways... if you get an inkling (mommy instinct) that your kid is stagnating, you are not connecting, any " feeling " ... move on. You simply keep/take all your current labs down the road. Fresh eyes can really propel your kid forward. And, get used to all of this being out of pocket, it's just the way it is. First, it is critical to stablize the kid. MUST DO the diet regardless of test results. In fact, I didnt bother proving a gluten intolerance or milk intolerance... I just did it. Heal the gut, clear the yeast, face down the constant bacteria that is causing your kids behaviors. These kids often have the immune system of an AIDS patient. Supplements - I did a full out biomedical supplement program which has over time become tailored and specific to his needs. At first, he was a wreck (although, I still laugh how his Ped had nothing to say about the initial labs I shared with him). A 3 year old with cholesterol of a 50 year old doesn't raise any flags? Come on, that's an easy one! While I did the hair analysis w/ 2 different labs, and urine test w/ dd, the test that gave me the clearest view of my son (and myself) mercury and to my surprise lead, pcb's pesticides... the French lab - Urine Porphyrine test - there is an parent interpretation paper on chelatingkids2 group files. You can order, do and interpret the test yourself. Although, any real good up to date DAN should want this test. This is the current gold standard in getting the best measurement of your kids' toxicity. Another avenue I highly recommend is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. Get the book The Oxygen Revolution - Harsch. There are also a few good HBOT lists on . Join them and research by going backward, reading posts...your questions will be no different than the many who came before you. In September, we did 40 dives of hard chamber 100% oxygen at a facility. The results were nothing short of AMAZING! Everyones experience/outcome is going to be different. In my sons case, he no longer need the diet, bam! His overall health - he is a completely different child. Hyperbaric oxygen is expensive but look into it! And, when you do you will see that there is a controversy hard vs soft. Hard w/ 100% oxygen is the biggest bang for your buck. I only recommend the hard chamber - while their is a soft chamber manufacturer who is marketing hard, very convincing but keep your antenna up. My son has a ways to go. He is far more toxic than I originally thaught but he is improving. We are now working on a more aggressive chelation protocal with one of the top Dr.s in this field in the country. Never give up. Go with your GUT! HTH... I am so impressed with this list, what a wonderful evolution! Viva la worrior Mommy! > > Received Charlie's Heavy Metals test results yesterday in the mail. > If you can at all recall, Charlie started on Vitamin therapy in > August and at that time had 6 approx words.
