Hi

I did write another email thanking you Majorie but my computer crashed so I am

not sure whether it will be posted. Anyhow just incase it isn't I will just say

that that was just the sort of information I was looking for. Any more info

regarding different types of stress and inflammation would also be extremely

interesting.

http://www.herc.org/news/mcsarticles/frame.htm

I found this link on calorie restriction and it goes on to explain a little

about the effect of lack of food on inflammation. I understand it ona very

basic level, but am sure you would be able to understand it and interpret it on

a much deeper level!. Anyhow I would be interested to hear, if you get time, or

anyone else about your opinions on this.

Thank you kindly

Bridget, I don't know much about calorie restriction, except that the

restriction generally discussed in papers like this are very extreme

for humans -- on the order of 400 calories a day, something that a

normal person cannot maintain for long. Manipulating the quantity or

quality of one's diet can cause a general depression of the immune

system and so decreased inflammation (I'm not certain by what

mechanism) but doing so risks severe health problems.

Plus, we (very sadly) know the effects of calorie restriction on

otherwise basically normal humans: it's called anorexia nervosa. That

is not a healthy state at all, mentally or physically, the poor

souls.
