Guest guest
You know you belong on here when......... This week I had my 3-month visit to KU with the movement disorder doc, he's a real sweetheart and listens well. Unfortunately, both feet are nearly glued to the ground and there's no help there. He did thank me for the info I sent on the Chicago conference. Also, KU has a neuro othalmogist and he will set me up for an appointment, I haven't a date yet. It's kind of crazy, I have reg. Glasses with tri-focals, reading glasses and computer glasses, the first two aren't comfortable at all. I listen to the TV with my eyes closed. Lou, my sentiments on the " monster chair " exactly! Mine arrived yesterday after three months and I could just cry. It tilts (not reclines, Medicare won't pay for that), it's too high, so when I go back I don't know if I'm like a car on a hoist or ready for a gyn exam. We have a nearly 100 year old house - no frills - my path from the front door to the kitchen is like a V. the damn monster does not get me close enough to my lift chair, computer, comode, bed or sink. Now, I didn't go to the dealer, they came here with several models and saw the house and could see how things were arranged. I get nervous just thinking about it. My feet were always hot, but last year they turned to ice and weird colors. My doc freaked out when she saw them. I had them checked out a the hospital for circulation - that was fine, then she sent me to a vascular surgeon (that scared me) but thought being in the w/c all the time contributed as well as being on Proamatine (he suggested getting on the least dosage possible - I have gotten off totally). My feet got better with warm weather and just in the past couple weeks are icy to touch and now turning color. I bought a foot bath with a vibrator also a fuzzy battery vibrator I can put my toes into and hot packs we heat in the microwave to place at the end of the bed. I wake around 3 a.m. or 4 a.m. with my feet on fire, go figure. My hands get cold, too, my old part-Schnuzer is on my lap most of the time to keep them warm. Sorry this is so long.
