Guest guest
Hi : You are like I am, lucky to live close enough to be able to take part in your parent's lives. One thing that could help a little is for you to take Family Medical Leave from your job, if they are willing to work with you on it. You are legally entitled to 12 weeks per year of unpaid leave without jeopardizing your job. Caring for a parent is covered. My employer allows me to take it non-consecutively which means that I regularly take one day per week. Of course it means I took a 20% pay cut, but my hubby and kids were willing to tighten up the belt for me to be able to help. It gives dad a day to leave the house, do banking and errands, and just be " off " . It also gives me and mom some qualilty girl time. I can't tell you how many wonderful memories I have of the days I have spent with her. Maybe this won't work for you. Whether it does or not, recognize that no matter how much we are able to do, it never feels like enough. My motto has been " All you can do is all you can do! " and I use that somtimes to get me through the day or the week. God bless you and your family. Pam W.
