Guest guest
Hi Bill, It's been quite awhile since I first communicated with our MSA group and you responded with information to me about the difficulty I was having getting extra large disposables that would fit comfortably for Tom. You suggested I contact Global Medical Solutions. After some time finding their web site and ordering system, I did contact them by phone and they were wonderful. I spoke to the owner, Monahan and he sent me two packs of different styles to try (sent them free and delivery free--how's that for wonderful?). We tried them both and I called in an order for a case of the best fitting ones. I'm sorry it took me so long to act on this and to respond to you. I find that it takes me awhile to do the 'go ahead' on things related to the problems of this disease. There seems to be so much to solve on an hour-to-hour/day-to-day basis that it's just difficult to add other and necessary things to my daily to do list. Got another question...Tom lost a large (old) filling from a back upper molar. Since he's bed bound and I cannot get him to a dentist, does anyone know of a dental service that makes home calls? (We live in northern Calif.) His dentist suggested an epoxy I can get at a drug store, mix the powder with water and put the putty in the hole but this sounds like it's only a temporary solution. Any suggestions would be so welcome. Thank you for being there in so many ways for all of us Bill.

Guest guest
Thanks for the reply Bill. I spoke with Tom's dentist and he told me about a product I could get at the pharmacy. It's a powder you mix with water to make a dough and put it into the hole left by the missing filling. I will have him rinse with peroxide first then apply it. Unfortunately there is no way I could get him into the dentist and back to the car. He is 6'3 " and over 300 lbs. The firemen have come to the house twice when he has landed on the floor and it took 3 of them a difficult time to get him back into bed. His legs will just not hold him up anymore. I'm also trying to find someone to come to the house to give him a flu shot. His doctor could offer no help. There are quite a number of challenges with this miserable disease as I am sure you experienced with Charlotte. Thanks for all your help and input. Sandy B. Guest guest
Sandy, Glad I could be of some help. I don't know what to tell you about the dentist, except see if you can get a friend, church member, relative or someone else to help you get him to the dentist. Charlotte had a great deal of problems with her teeth, much of it caused by MSA, which can cause problems with saliva production (both too much and too little) which causes tooth problems. Ask your dentist for prescription toothpaste which has higher floride content and helped Charlotte greatly with prevention. Can you hire a young strong high school student to help you out for a day? Don't try to do it all by yourself, ask around. Note too that most volunteer fire depatments will help you get him out of the house into the car (mine also helped me get Charlotte from the car back into the house when I got home). You would have to get him from the car into the dentist's office and back to the car (but my dentist helped me there). Take care, Bill Werre ==================================================== sandybierman@... wrote: >Hi Bill, > >It's been quite awhile since I first communicated with our MSA group and you >responded with information to me about the difficulty I was having getting >extra large disposables that would fit comfortably for Tom. Guest guest
Our yellow pages have a mobile dental service listed. Our dentist mentioned it, but I have not called on them at this time. We live near Philadelphia, which certainly isn't California, of course. Also, you might call the local dental society. Good luck.
