Guest guest
Hi all, Last night I got to talk to Aussie Anne (Southport, QLD) on the phone. She is not able to get to the computer, so emails will not help at this time. Her address is: Anne Pledger 23 Myall St Southport 4215 OLD, Australia Mail takes about a week from the East coast of the USA and unfortunately even express mail takes almost as long - so don't pay extra for it. I am sending her some flowers from the list, so don't anyone else send flowers this week. Anne is due to go in for an appointment to see about a back (disc) operation next Tuesday Nov 19th. She is having a great deal of pain from the disc, and is stuck in bed almost full time right now. I talked to her for about 30 minutes and we did kid about our list time years ago when I first came on the list. For those of you who don't remember, she, I and Fordy ( Ford) used to kid about driving on the right or left side of the road, people downunder wearing magnetic boots to hold them on the earth, and Aussie strine. lost his fight with MSA and cancer in August. I do need to thank the Aussies in NSW for putting up with this " Bloody Yank " while I learned to drive on the " correct " side of the road last May - by the time I got to Southport, I had learned to drive on the left (well, most of the time). Making a right turn is bloody awful downunder! They also put steering wheels on the wrong side of the car, I don't remember how manu times I got in and had to get out and go around the car. Bus doors are also on the wrong side Anne said that their drought is worse now than when I was there in May. To the Aussies, we had the same problem here this spring and summer, but it ended in late September and has been raining ever since (we are still not back to normal water tables - but better). Today I did hear some good news from our drought - the Chesapeake Bay pollution did clear up somewhat, due to the drought. I know that doesn't help a lot when there are wild fires out of control especially all ove NSW. , hope you are okay in Wolumla - are you still chasing away the lorikeets? Ave a G'day mates! Take care, Bill Werre
