Guest guest
Hi Vera, It's true Al's Angel has gotten him out of a lot of sticky situations throughout his life - especially in his younger days. That with his stubborness gets him through his many challenging tasks that he sets for himself each day. Today I took the day off work to take my husband for a test at one of Brisbane's many hospitals. We arrived safely (Al was very calm in the car while I drove) and found our way through the maze of corridors (hospitals always have) to the " Urodynamics " section. Al was walking extremely well (still a little puzzled over this new blessing) but when they took him to X-ray, it was in a wheelchair. Two hours later we departed - we go back again in 2 weeks for more tests. He really is having problems passing urine, today they had to drain 1 litre and 700 mls out of him. Then it was rather a long drive to the other side of the city to pick up his MRI's scans from his neurologist (in Australia patients keep their X-rays & Scans) as Al had told his Doctor that I would be picking them up!! One never knows what their love ones will say to their Drs, no matter how much drilling you do beforehand. Anyway on the return trip home Al was still in remarkable in good spirits and leaving the driving to me - that is until we hit the freeway! I'm flat out concentrating on my driving on a very busy freeway, when I get these arms signals from the passenger seat directing me where to go! Finally a voice murmured at me " get into the middle lane " . I replied " hey I'm the one whose driving and looking at all the cars around and behind me, stop giving me orders " . He quietly replied " I'm only trying to help " - yes it is so sad, but lovely too. There must be something in " 7878 " ?? for Fred to keep remembering those figures. Al is so like Fred and they certainly have their moments. Al lately gets very angry with me and at times very physical, which really isn't him at all. His flashbacks to his boxing days are a bit of a worry - called him outside on Sunday when he blew up again over something very minor. He actually stepped outside and I was ready to lock the door on him but then realised he would only punch a hole into the glass sliding door again! Few hours later he calmed down again and life goes on. We still can't find an answer to his hot burning legs - doctors think its only cramp, but Al says it isn't as he knows what cramp is like. That with his severe headaches doesn't help with his mood swings - again Drs are afraid to put him onto stronger pain killers at this stage. Interesting to hear that Fred never went through anything like this - he wouldn't want to either believe me. It must be a worry for you with Fred already having two bouts of pneumonia and I don't blame you for keeping him inside! Al thoroughly enjoyed his drive today considering it was rather long, he hasn't been that far in 3yrs. Aussie Ann #2 - Brizzy Ann
