Hey Nick. I actually just got back from Dr. -Lat from my 6th

treatment. Well, I HAD a similar condition to you, but it has

gotten much better since I started photoderm with Dr. -Lat.

In my opinion, it was worth the money I spent because just looking

at my " Before " picture right before my first treatment and my

current picture, it is like night and day. She takes pictures

before every treatment so you can make comparisons, and mine are

very telling. She is pretty knowledgable, but her strong-point is

that she is very open and understanding. She tells you exactly what

she is going to do, (i.e. what filters, fluency, # of passes). She

is also concerned if the treatment is painful and she is aggressive

with how many passes she gives. She regularly gives me multiple

passes and zaps numbering in the hundreds every treatment because my

skin can take it. I have heard that other doctors are a bit stingy

on how many shots they give their patients (for the same price, I

might add.) There is no real downtime for me (for ME, but I think I

might have tougher skin), usually just a little redness and

poofiness, but my skin was already red and poofy, so no big

difference from the usual rosacea-face :)

The important thing is knowing that usually there is no noticeable

effect on the 1st and 2nd treatment. It usually takes 3 before you

really notice the difference. For me, it was the 2nd treatment that

really started making a difference. Also, because everybody has

different skin-types, the same filter settings don't work the same

way for everybody. For me, the shallower 590-645 settings seem to

work the best (Dr. -Lat recently tried out some of the deeper

settings which should be more effective for flushing, but they did

nothing for me. So back to the 590's)

Its also important to try your damndest NOT to flush that first week

after treatment. If you flush hard during that first week, it tends

to reduce the benefits of the photoderm session. I found that out

the hard way after going back to lifting weights too early after my

3rd and 5th treatments. I was looking and feeling so good, that I

got cocky and went back to working out after only three days. My

face immediately reverted back to pre-3rd treatment redness the day

after. Big mistake.

Anyways, it doesn't work for everybody. I know several people here

have tried Photoderm and have not gotten the results they expected.

But some of us have. I am going for a two-pronged approach, as I am

going to go on a course of Accutane after Photoderm. (Accutane has

worked for me in killing rosacea before.) My advice is to stick it

through for 3 treatments. If you see no effect after 3, then it is

quite likely that photoderm is not for you and you can save your

money, because it is really expensive. But if you are going to

undergo Photoderm anyway and are just concerned about the physician,

then you can't go wrong with Dr. -Lat, she is really a

terrific doctor.

Good luck!
