Gross question, but really want to know.

Two weeks post op and I am really suprised how good I feel. I had an

open RNY because they had other stuff they had to do, like the

gallbladder removal and some stomach muscle fix.

I got a couple of questions. I had a GI tube drain capped before I

left the hospital. It started to seep a good deal, so after a few

phone calls and a trip to the ER to make sure that everything was

okay, they decided to uncap it, and so it is now draining into a

colostomy bag with a spigot on the bottom so I can drain it off.

Sounds gross, but keeps the area, me and my clothes a lot cleaner

than bandages. Anyway, it is draining quite a bit, but I hope it is

getting less. Has anyone ever had this? I am draining maybe a pint

of liquid a day or more. If they plan to pull the drain next week,

where would all this liquid go to? For that matter, anyone know what

it is? The tube is in the remnant stomach, and they told me in the

hospital that it was stomach acids (suppose to be clearish) and bile

(green). And if this is true, why is the remnant making so much of

this stuff?

Okay next question, much less gross. Anyone have staples pulled at

almost 3 weeks? Being in so long, what should I expect, super

soreness? Any suggestions for the healing itch?

My thanks to everyone who has cyberly held my hand through this.

Thank you for being there when I needed you.
