Guest guest
Hi all! First I would like to thank everyone for all their input on this site. I learn so much about what to do to stay healthy. I live in a small town and my regular doctor is not very helpful. My gastric surgeon is 3 hours away. He is not great about post-op care.... My question to all of you long term grads is about daily protein intake. I get in anywhere from 60 to 90 grams a day. I am 13 months post-op and down 141 pounds since surgery. wt. 163. My personal goal is 145 to 135. My doctor put me at 170 for my goal. Should I be taking in more protein? I get about 40 grams of whey protein a day from bars or a kool-aid type drink, the rest is from food. My stomach doctor never really said too much about protein, his only concern was that I get at least 64 oz. of water and to keep my calories at 900 a day to keep the weight off. Is the calorie intake too low in your opinion??? Do the protein shakes count toward your daily calorie count? Or is that just to get your protein in? I don't work out much due to major health issues but am trying to get to the gym about 3 times a week now. Walking is almost impossible for me unless it is on a treadmill or in the water as I have a cane. Bev M.
