Guest guest
as of tommrow I will be one week post op! It has gone by soooo fast it seems like a couple days ago! after day three things really started getting better fast. I had upper jaw done, I stayed in the hosptial overnight and was really glad that I chose to do that. I didn't loose a lot of blood--way under what is normal--during surgery but afterwards there were problems with bleeding and nausea so I had the NG tube down my stomach overnight which is an expiernce I hope to never have again! The pain has been managable, basically the whole lower-mid portion of my face including my nose has been numb. I didn't panic on that though because with one of my implants I had nerve damage and it went away with in a year. Anyway a lot of it has already gone away which means more pain which makes me worry so luckily I will see the OS tommrow. Anyway things I was worried about like the Splint being really cubersome or annyoying is nothing! OMG are you kidding me! Its smaller then a plastic retainer I had with a false tooth on it and way smaller then the splint I had after a gum graft its no problem at all. and food well I am a really picky eater and cna't eat mushy things because of a gag reflex but I just blend it really well and its totally fine. I of course had A LOT of problems with nasal congestion and still am. I found those breath right strips with vapors are a life savr as is Nyquil! My god thats a miricale drug if any! I took it two nights ago WITHOUT taking the pain medication(thats VERY important) and the next morning I woke up at 7 and went back to sleep till 10! It was the first night since the night before surgery that I slept for more then 2 hours at a time and the first morning I was able to stay in bed past 4 AM! I think not breathing has been the most difficutl part of the whole ordeal! Anyway I have been dealing with teeth problems since I was 12 in the 6th grade so its no big deal to me at all and I kept that attidude and kept a postive out look and made usre to keep in mind this isn't the end of a life or some deadly diases etc and it really has paid off! So I suggest that for people who want to know about the srugery or how to deal with it or what its like afterwards, just keep postive and don't become all dramatic! Anyway thats my status liz
