Guest guest
As a long time sufferer of the flakiness, I have to agree with Adam. I treat my flakes as if they are all tiny little scabs that are a result of damage to the skin--the best way to heal a scab is to keep it dry and just let it heal itself. I never use any mosturizer on the flakes, as bad is may look some days, because I feel that it just delays the healing process. I also am a firm beleiver in going for days without washing my face-- no cleanser and no water just to let my natural oils replenish to a normal level--once my natural oils return, the flakes subside. Of course, becasue I have a chronic case of seb derm, the flakes will ususally return in a week or so, but at least I do get some relief by not putting anything on it, not even water. I only practice this 'non-regimen' in my main problem area which is my forehead--the skin on my forehead is much more sensitive than my nose, cheeks , and chin so in those areas I will use products which I find beneficial--the only i am using right now is the DRL from Cutanix which I find to be the most soothing lotion I have ever tried- -the lower half of my face looks and feels perfect. I am waiting for the release of the mineral oil free version of DRL to try on my forehead. > In a message dated 7/18/02 9:31:30 AM, emarjency@s... writes: > > << I would think any kind of exfoliation would win the battle but lose > > the war, since exfoliation would make the barrier more impermiable. > > I obviously meant *more permeable*.
