Guest guest
, I am so sorry to hear of your loss of your beloved wife, Lorraine. I know, also, that it will be difficult for you to go on. You've spent all of your time helping her fight the battle. Be proud of that feat. Two of my sons live within 30 miles and one 5 hours away. They all have busy lives, so I can understand your concern for the time when your children leave. At first my children and family thought that they needed to be with me every minute. I felt crowded. It is hard being alone, but it is also hard when you have people around all the time. Remember, we have been used to living adult lives. Sometimes our children forget that. My own doctor told me and my children that I needed time to rest to do nothing or to do lots whatever my brain thought that it wanted. He said it takes the brain longer to heal when you have been on a long journey as you and I have than for the rest of your body. With me the rest of my body was pretty tired. That is what I have done. My sons and their families have been wonderful. My husband left this illness behind on October 4, so it has not been long. Once I do feel rested, I plan to try to be active again. Do you have a Senior Citizens Center? Be involved in your church? For men, I have always thought it would be so neat to just go hang out at a service station or a local market where ever the men hang out. I think it would be a little harder for women to do that. What ever you choose to do, I am sure that you will do well. Remember that Lorraine is not suffering any more. This is your time to rest and recover.
