Guest guest
Hi, I am sorry to report that my sister experienced rapid deterioration this past March. She was admitted to the hospital to have a feeding tube inserted into her stomach.....she was able to walk (with assistance and a walker) and to talk. Immediately following her surgery, was in intense pain...unlike anything any of us have ever seen (or ever wish to see again). The doctors were baffled. Finally pain doctors got the pain under control, but 's quality of life has not been the same since. She left the hospital in September and went directly to a nursing home. She cannot move (her body is completely rigid - - like a board), can barely speak, and requires full-time medical care. Very grim situation.....my heart cries for you and your family as it does for the many others and my own family. I am now writing in hopes that with all in the incredible knowledge that this group has, that maybe I can find an answer for my dad. Three weeks ago he entered the hospital with kidney disease (thank God I had the knowledge from this list to know that the rapid downhill progression in a couple of days time was a big danger sign). He is now in rehab in the hospital, but he is still extremely exhaused and all he wants to do is sleep. This past weekend he could not even do his physical therapy because he was so exhaused. His doctor seemes to think that the diease is causing the exhaustion and incapacitation, but I find that hard to believe since he was not even half this bad a week before he was in the hospital. He says that he is amazed at the rapid deterioration. I guess my question is this, Is that possible that he would deteriorate that fast even after being on antibiotics for fourteen days, or could there be something else wrong. I really appreciate all the fantastic advise I have received here for the past two years and I keep all the patients and caretakers of this tragic disease in my prayers. Thanks for your help.
