Guest guest
After years of frustration with facial flushing I recently went into hospital to have a Bilateral Sympathectomy carried out (4th july 2002) I live in England and had the operation carried out on the NHS after a lot of persistant nagging and pleading with my GP to refer me to a specialist. I was officially diagnosed with rosacea last year, but I had been stuggling with it for many years beforehand; my symptoms were severe facial flushing when embarrassed, after an alcoholic drink or hot spicy foods, during sports, when stressed and often for no reason at all! I'm pleased to say that the operation seems to have been a complete success so far (although I am still recovering) but I think time and more experience will give a true indication as to how well it has worked. Basicically I'm writing this to say to anyone, particularly in the UK, that the operation does work and if you decide you would like to give it a try you should be ready to persevere with your GP and make him/her refere you to a specialist. I would be happy to reply by email if anybody would like more information on.... daniels.dave@... cheers.
