Guest guest
I have recently been diagnosed with cea. My derm immediately started me on Minocycline and MetroGel. On the 12th day of taking the Minocycline, I began to get an allergic reaction that ended me up in the emergency room. My lips, face, neck, and ankles swelled up and I broke out in hives from the neck down. Not to mention my stomach was so upset I couldn't keep any liquids in and also became dehydrated. Talk about being miserable! Anyway, when I told my derm about the reaction she said that unfortunately all of the other oral antibiotics used to treat cea are in the same drug family as Minocycline. So I am now using Klaron and MetroGel. I have been using the Klaron for 11 days and so far I am not reacting to that. Is it true that I have no other options for oral antibiotics?? I have read that some 50 percent of Rocacea sufferers also have ocular cea. Everything I have read about that says that it is treated with oral antibiotics. This worries me quite a bit. I do not currently have ocular cea, but I am afraid that if I begin to show symptoms of having it, there will be no avenue of treatment for me. Is there any treatment for ocular cea other then oral antibiotics? Can anyone help me out with some information? Maybe calm my worries a bit? Thanks in advance...
