I don't know if it is just me, but I have probably seen about

6 derms in the past 3 yrs. My impression is that derms in general

don't have the first clue about the disease we know as rosacea.

For instance, I asked my last 3 derms the ?, " what causes

cea? " I was stunned when each told me that the cause was

due to a " type of bacteria " that " lived on the surface of the skin " !

(2 of them laid blame on our favorite culprit the Demodex Mite >gee i

hope i got the Demodex spelling right >

*

I asked the most recent derm about Moxonodine and Clonodine. He'd

never heard of them. I showed him Dr Nase's book and suggested it

as an alternative to the regular (I.e anti-bacterial pills, metro

creams and lotions, etc) for treating environmental, stress related

flushing.

This Derm said he wouldn't prescribe it because it would make

me " dizzy " . I asked him and the previous derm about low dose

accutane. Again, they didn't (and i presume still don't) have the

foggiest clue that low dose accutane was a viable treatment for

rosacea. I got the " you don't have acne " look like I have just

landed here from another planet.

*

I could go on and on, but i'm sure most of you are familiar w/ the

indifference that the medical establishment (specifically derms) have

towards treating this disorder. Hence i'll jump off of my soapbox.

*

This all leads to a question that I am posing >>> Since this appears

to be a vascular disorder, shouldn't I be going to vascular

specialists who might have a general idea as to how to treat a

problem with weakened blood vessels??

THanks for listening all!

this is actually in response to your last post about photoderm in

philly.. i'm pretty sure there is a laser center either at HUP or the

childrens hospital of philly (not sure if they only treat kids or

what..) .try calling HUP first, or maybe their dermatology department

can refer you to a photoderm specialist in the area.

by the way. . i like your name, h8ros8cya. (hate rosacea, huh? we all

do.) =)
