Guest guest
Adam, I wish you wouldn't ruin the time you had with your good skin last month thinking about the possibility of an upcoming challenge. Try and live in the moment. The past and the future are exactly that. You can't change the past and you cannot predict the future so admit that there is a chance each and every day that your skin will be " good " and there is a chance that you could have some consecutive good days. There is a chance bad days will be there too. By embracing that chance and doing everything you know to be good to your skin you can release the responsibility that each day brings and take each day as it comes. You only get frustrated when reality doesn't meet your expectations. Which one is easier for you to control? You are obviously a bright guy and I get the feeling that rosacea mgmt. for you is kind of like chess where you are applying reason and logic to the problem to figure out a rational solution. I think it is awesome you are so interested in your skin. Why do you feel so disconnected with your skin? It is literally the you that you show to the world. I remember as a kid having the weirdest feeling that I was looking through the wrong eyes. Do you feel like your skin is totally our of your control like it has a mind of its own and you are constantly having to react to it? I felt like I was in a movie and I was just constantly having to play my part in reaction to the circumstances around me. I'm only sharing this with you because I still think about that today and it influences my decisions on a daily basis. Your life is literally your movie. Do you want it to be dull and filled with scrutiny over all your imperfections? You should be considering what you would like to see, hear, taste and smell and touch because these are all the things that tell us we are alive. Seriously what it boils down to is you don't have perfect skin or you wouldn't be on this list. That is a feature about you just like many others and like many others somewhat out of your control. There is such a thing as harmony with your skin without having that be measured as perfect skin. Your skin is just hangin out there 24/7 totally your best bud from beginning to end. So yours isn't perfect SO WHAT. Accept that. You guys are going to have to work together or it is never going to work. Are any of your real friends or family perfect and do you love them anyway? You are stuck with your skin just like your ears and nose and feet and height. So be there for it. Listen to it. Help it as best as you can. Forgive it when it lets you down. I know that this was probably not the type of advice you were seeking but I thought it might help anyone deal with the psychological wounds of rosacea. If anyone is thinking about their rosacea all the time and cannot stop worrying and checking to see if it is getting worse then that is a problem. When you think about your rosacea kind of like your fickle best friend you don't worry about their idiosyncracies all the time. You just know they are kind of a pain in the a** like they can't eat this or can't go outside or can't use whatever your triggers seem to be. It is just a modification you make and then don't worry about it again. Usually you can predict how they will behave but sometimes you have to respond as you go and that is solely an intuitive process. Be one with your skin you should Adam.
