Guest guest
I am taking Periostat for my teeth. That is Doxycycline. I do not know the strength. That is 9 months on. Three month off. I did notice that the cea got noticeably worse after I stopped the first time. Something you might want to look for when you are done with your regime. > anyone else have experience with flare ups after starting Doxycycline? >

Guest guest
My opthamologist recommended Doxycycline for the Ocular cea I am having. I am entering my 3rd week (100 mg a day for 6 weeks, then 50mg a week for next 6 weeks). I've notice my eyes are less dry. Still red, but not AS red. The one thing that has happened, though, is that I've been breaking out more on my face (tiny whiteheads and clogged pores). Normally i have pretty clear skin with only a random zit here and there. Is this breakout a sign that the Doxycycline is working it's way into my system - a kind of " it will get worse before it gets better " theory? anyone else have experience with flare ups after starting Doxycycline? Thanks.

Guest guest
culture the pustules -- it's likely they're gram negatives. Do they hurt? Don't sacrifice your pretty clear skin for your eyes. If they're gram negatives, try 10 mg Accutane MWF. > My opthamologist recommended Doxycycline for the Ocular cea I am > having. Guest guest
Interesting thought. I've done some reading on the gram-negative angle and that seems to be a reaction that tends to occur after " long- term " antibiotic therapy moreso. I've only been on the Doxy for 2 1/2 weeks. I read somewhere that taking antibiotics and anti-oxidants (i have been taking grape-seed extract daily) can sometimes cause a problem. anyone else here this? i'm just going to try and remain calm and see if it clears up in the next couple of weeks. if not, back to the derm i guess. he's given me differin to use at night and suggested cleansing with Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash in the AM. > > My opthamologist recommended Doxycycline for the Ocular cea I > am > > having.
