Michele,

thanks for the 2001 Report. At least they have improved when you consider that

they

spent 35.6% of the contributions for grants, yet the amount was $22,000 less

than the

year 2000. But remember that at the end of 2000 the NRS had net assets worth

$537,497. I imagine that at the end of 2001 the net assets went down. At least

this

group may keep a keen interest in the NRS budget and wonder if any rosaceans can

have an impact on what the research dollars are spent on. I still think Pascoe

should

organize an International cea Society based in Australia that can have

rosaceans

running it who might allow a fresh approach to research. I realize that this

would

require a serious undertaking on his part but it could start out with him

operating out of

his home office in his spare time. What do you think ? Your the man. You

have

created the largest rosacea support group on planet earth which is no small

accomplishment. IRS all the way!

thanks for the vote of confidence ... I think ? Sadly, this is way more

than I have time for.

The NRS have come around some so have proved that they can change

according to customer demand. I don't see that they are particularly

influenced by their funding from Galderma - they seem to quite clearly

steer away from endorsing their products for eg (or any particular

treatments for that matter). Also the job that they do do in terms of

disseminating information and being a point of contact - the phone

service, web site and brochures, obviously cost real dollars. To even get

a grant program off the ground is probably in another ball park in terms

of financing as well.

I don't think that we need to write off the NRS, we just need to support

and encourage them to speak for us.

The problem for me all along has been that the NRS is not what all of us

really want. We have hopes for them that are pretty unlikely to be met as

they are just too much. What we hope and dream for is an advocate with

unlimited funds to inspire original research, and to educate the masses.

We are a long way from that.

cheers,

davidp.
